MWA PLEDGE

TO PROVIDE A FUTURE FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.

TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE WATERWAYS AND FISH THEREIN.

TO EDUCATE THOSE GENERATIONS SO THAT THIS TRADITION MAY BE CARRIED ON.

FROM OUR PAST TO THE FUTURE

In 1993, the Michiana Walleye Association (MWA) was officially organized with a mission to involve future generations, and our local community, in conservation programs, waterway management, and walleye fishing skills. The goal was to create a positive impact in stimulating the development of the St. Joseph River (IN) into a high quality Walleye fishery encompassing St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties.

The MWA was originally organized with 19 members. For the first two years monthly meetings were held at the County Line Marina on Ash Rd. In 1995 the MWA moved into the Wander Conservation Club grounds comprising nearly seven acres on Day Rd., Mishawaka. Members worked hard two days a week enclosing the open pavilion, adding on to the back a kitchen, rest rooms, office, and furnace room.

Through the years we have held monthly meetings, tournaments, fund raisers, and community events. We open the club grounds to local groups and elementary school classes for meetings and day field trips. Our facilities are utilized by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as a meeting place and outdoor camping experience. The MWA raises funds every year to offer a scholarship to an area college student majoring in wildlife management.

The MWA is more than a fishing club. We are a family-focused organization with the belief that our youth are the Conservationists of Tomorrow.
